This week, I continued working on the data by Excel to calculate descriptive statistics of age:
- Minimum: 2
- Maximum: 92
- Median: 35
- Mean: 37.5
- Standard deviation: 12.93
- Skewness : 0.712 -> positive skew
- Kurtosis: 0.265
Regarding mental illness, there were 1904 men with mental illness and only 143 women.
Also, I used a PivotTable to calculate which age group had the highest mental illness and it was evident that the majority of individuals with mental illness who were shot were between the ages of 31 and 38.
In addition, I have some questions as below:
- What was the immigration status of the victims? How many of those shot were illegal immigrants?
- Is mental illness related to the temperature of the area?
- Do states with stronger mental health crisis response systems such as healthcare, mental health services and mental health funding have fewer fatal police shootings involving individuals with mental illness?
